  • WebSphere Migration Workshop

    Mittwoch, 22. Februar 2012 - 19:59

Frank Golazeski from the IBM WebSphere Competitive Migrations Team wrote an article about the new “WebSphere Migration Workshop”. QUOTE: “One thing is to recognize the business need for a change, and another is to have the guts to do it. Even after the CIO recognizes the business sense in the migration effort, the rest of [...]

  • How to cut your WebLogic license and maintenance costs in half?

    Dienstag, 21. Februar 2012 - 21:07

I recently worked with an Oracle customer in Northern Europe helping them to replace WebLogic with WebSphere. You might ask why would a Fortune 500 company with significant existing investment of time, skills and money would decide to move off WebLogic? In this and many other cases high cost of WebLogic support and new license [...]

  • Oracle Service Bus review by Oracle customer

    Montag, 20. Februar 2012 - 17:56

I always thought Australians have a good sense of humor and this article is just another proof for it. This is a must read for anyone evaluating Oracle Service Bus – published little over a year ago, but the latest version of OSB has not changed much and most of the experience described in the [...]

  • Steve Robinson the Legend took 45 minutes to get Google number 1 and 2 rankings.

    Samstag, 18. Februar 2012 - 11:06

    I posted this article

    http://blog.webspheretools.com/2012/02/18/steve-robinson-legend/

45 minutes later it was #1 and #2 in Google? Lets see if this is real or not over the coming weeks. If it still #1 in 7 days then I guess it must be true?

  • Steve Robinson the Legend

    Samstag, 18. Februar 2012 - 10:12

I am posting this post to see how long it takes for Google to rank me #1 for his key word “Steve Robinson the Legend”

I often take the  micky at myself, and try to have a bit of fun more these days. I am often very serious and spend all my time publishing information on the net for others to consume.

I have 100′s of  “number one” ranked pages especially in the JEE domain. Yesterday I was told I should be a SEO consultant. But that is not for me, it is just fun.

  • IBM and Oracle software licensing and support in virtualized private cloud environments

    Donnerstag, 16. Februar 2012 - 19:42

Oracle license and support policy does not allow companies to take advantage of the server partitioning and imposes high costs practically negating many benefits of virtualization. IBM embraced virtualization years ago and provides support and flexible sub-capacity pricing for its customers. In 2010 Larry Ellison decided that “clouds are ok”. Since that time Oracle embraced [...]

  • WebSphere Temp Folders

    Mittwoch, 15. Februar 2012 - 12:11

Often you may need to deal with WebSphere Application Sever temp files.

    Network Deployment version:

Deployment manager temp folder for example: <dmgr_profile_temp>/temp -> mostly Contains expanded information from deployments.

Each custom or deployment manager profile stores temporary data in the appropriate directory:

    <profile_root>/wstemp

  • Creating a Catalog cluster for WXS

    Samstag, 11. Februar 2012 - 12:13

When a WAS cell is created to use the DMGR and NodeAgents for the catalog service, it means that often later in the cycle of the project, the environment may need to be changed to use a cluster with JVMs as the catalog service. The reason for this is that we can stop and start WAS management process i.e. the DMGR and NodeAgents, without stopping the Cluster and thus lends to a better HA design. It is recommended that you really do not use the DMGR and NodeAgents as the catalog service.
